Established in 1979, Capannina in Bury has been carefully refurbished in the past 12 months, giving it a fresh, clean and modern look without losing any of the appeal of the original layout. This traditional Italian family-owned restaurant continues to deliver the perfect mix of relaxed and informal dining, and as such, appeals to large parties as well as family gatherings. The addition of three booths has created an ideal area for those times when a quiet table is requested. The menu has many classic Italian dishes like Polpette Napoli, home-made meatballs in a tomato sauce, breaded mushrooms stuffed with goat’s cheese, and superb thin and crispy garlic breads as well as a Caesar salad, one of the fresh health conscious options. Pasta and risotto is an important ingredient in any menu and here choice is abundant with dishes like traditional lasagne al forno, penne puttanesca, linguini with clams, spaghetti with prawns and rocket and chicken and mushroom risotto. Main courses include king prawns in brandy, onions and lobster sauce, Involtini di Pollo -- gently rolled chicken breast stuffed with pancetta, mozzarella and sage -- plus prime fillet and sirloins cooked any way you wish. Weekly specials give you a chance to sample the chef’s occasional dishes, instead of the traditional menu.
